There is no such place as ‘away’. When you throw something away, it ends up in landfill, an incinerator or somewhere else. As part of Zero Waste Week, we’re taking on the challenge to reduce, reuse and recycle.
Zero Waste Week is a grassroots campaign raising awareness of the environmental impact of waste and empowering participants to reduce waste. The campaign invites people to become part of the solution and minimise waste in their everyday lives.
This year’s theme is ‘Plastic – Unwrapped!”. Since Blue Planet II, concern about plastic pollution has exploded. With news that ocean plastic could triple in a decade, the time to act is now.
As individuals and organisations, we all play a role in tackling our addiction to plastic.
Here are our three top tips to reducing everyday plastic:
- Get yourself a reusable bottle and coffee cup – we love KeepCup, Chilly’s and Klean Kanteen.
- Carry a tote bag to ensure you don’t get caught out using a plastic bag.
- Shop for your groceries in your local plastic free shop. Check out Bristol’s favourite Zero Green.
Are you going plastic free this week? Share your tips with us on Twitter and Instagram using #ZeroWasteWeek and @Greenhouse_PR.
At Greenhouse, we work with organisations pioneering the fight against climate change. If you’re involved in the fight against plastic and have a great story and need our help to tell it, we’d love to hear from you. Get in touch with the team on firstname.lastname@example.org or call 0117 214 1250.
