Since the opening of Bristol HQ in October last year, Greenhouse has been continuing to grow and we are now opening our new London office. We have refurbished a beautiful warehouse office just off Bermondsey Street, around the corner from London Bridge and right next to a lovely park to keep us firmly connected to our green roots.
Our working space reflects our values as a specialist green communications agency and a B-Corp. Read more about it below:
Sustainable ethical and local sourcing
We brought over tried and tested environmentally-friendly features from the Bristol HQ – we are powered on green energy, sitting on sustainably sourced furniture, lit by new LED lighting, and treated to weekly organic fruit delivery. Much of the charm of our new design has been shaped by the work of local artists and suppliers.
Our meeting room table and work desks were beautifully crafted by Unto This Last, a Shoreditch-based workshop which uses 100% FSC-certified birch for its strength and sustainability.
The new office is full of plants and colour. On the walls, paintings by local artist Anita Klein break up the industrial brickwork and a fortnightly flower delivery from London-based Freddie’s Flowers brightens the space.
Our decorative glass sculptures were designed and made by Louis Thompson and Sophie Thomas as part of the ‘Broken Ocean’ collection. The vases are hand-blown and combine waste glass fragments with washed up ocean plastic found on beaches around the world.
We also engaged in a little hands-on creativity ourselves for the move, up-cycling an old table by repainting it in Greenhouse blue to be used in the reception hallway.
Green office culture
In line with the Greenhouse culture, we’ve put our sustainability stamp on traditional office features, as well as incorporated new ones. We all know that some days require a little more caffeine than others, so to make our office cuppas more eco-friendly we installed a boiling water tap to avoid using inefficient kettles, and employ a reusable cup policy for take-outs.
All our food is sustainable and ethically sourced, and we have decided to be vegetarian for all work-based lunches and snacks.
We believe that a healthy, sustainable workspace should be cemented in positive health and wellbeing practice. We organise weekly yoga and mindfulness sessions and invest in an office juicer to use with our organic fruit order. Our commitment to plants means our work space is filled with cacti, ferns and monstera.
We’re always looking for more ways to make our new office the best that it can be. If you have any sustainability tips, feel free to tweet us at @Greenhouse_PR with your suggestions.
If you or your business shares our passion to promote a sustainable way of living and working, and you have a positive story to tell, we’d love to hear from you.
